<-- Back 1959 White House Dinner October 26, 1959. Eisenhower's time as a national leader was winding down. He was already the oldest serving President (up to that time.) Although still very active and fit, Eisenhower had numerous heart problems and had suffered at least one small stroke. The still-avid golfer practiced daily on the White House putting green.
